Pumpkins and Trick-or-Treatin'

Or otherwise known as the Weekend Wrap-up.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E weekend this weekend! Let's roll.

BTW - it's really hard to spell words correctly when you type them out one letter at a time. With a "-" in the middle of each letter. Try it. Hard, isn't it?
..............................................................

Saturday was spent, as usual, at The Little Gym. You were a little more active than usual this time. You are definitely getting much better at the monkey bars.
So much so that the world is your monkey bars. Seriously. You hang and swing from everything. Even from the ends of the kitchen counters where you can't even get in a good "swing"

I digress.

You are so confident, that you even joke around when Mommy is trying to take a picture.
Just a little girl and her balance beam...

Makes me wonder what was running through her mind at this very moment.

Later that evening we went over to Auntie V and Uncle Doug's house to help Katherine and Matthew carve pumpkins, which you clearly were not a fan of.

Very upset that you had touched the really gross, slimy, gooey pumpkin guts. Made Uncle Doug wash your hands. Get it off, GET IT OFF NOW

"You see Emma, you take the little orange scraper and you have to scrape the insides out before we can carve it"

"How does this little orange thing get inside the pumpkin, I wonder?"

"You just scrape and scrape until all of the pumpkin guts come out and it's nice and smooth inside"

"Really? Let me check this out for myself"

"Hold on a second. Lemme get a closer look. I'm not sure I believe you"

"whoa"

"lemme get this straight - you expect me to put my hand, no, my ENTIRE arm in that thing and scrape the guts out?!?! And have my arm look like yours?"

"uh-uh. No way. No thank you. Not.Gonna.Do.It"

"I'm outta here!"

And that concluded your first pumpkin carving. You spent the rest of the afternoon playing ball with Uncle Doug not even remotely interested in pumpkins. Perhaps next year you will be a little more interested.

Maybe...
..............................................................

Sunday was the big Trick-or-Treating festivities but before that we just hung out at home doing normal Sunday activities. Laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, playing. We ate dinner super fast so that we could show you off to our neighborhood before going over to Auntie V and Uncle D's house to trick-or-treat with them. We went and saw Miss Cindy (CC as you so affectionately call her) and Mr. Chris (our next door neighbors) as well as Mr. Ben, the policeman, who lives up the way.

This year you were a black Kitty Cat/leopard.

An ear-less black kitty cat/leopard.

Wouldn't wear your ears for anything! We let Daddy wear it first thinking that if Daddy did it, you would too.

Not so much.

So, we headed out to do a quick visit with the neighbors.

You also wouldn't wear black shoes with your costume. Only the white and pink ones. Of course. You did, however, let Mommy draw a nose and whiskers on you. Only after Mommy did it on herself first. (The things we do for our children when we want them to do something)

You were amazed by all the people that were on our little street.

We walked up and down our street visiting various people. You were a huge hit with everyone!

Ended the night over at Auntie V and Uncle D's house trick-or-treating with Katherine and Matthew. You were very scared of Matthew's costume this year and I don't blame you - he was very frightening!

You received tons of candy (which will be donated to Operation Gratitude - all candy is dropped off at our local dentist and sent to the Troops overseas) and had a really great time. You were a little shy at first - wanted Mommy and Daddy (more Daddy) to carry you. By the time we were down the first street you were running and chasing Katherine to race to the front doors.

One last photo op before we left for the night:

Two of my most favorite girls: I love you both so very much!
